Sr. Margherita Teresa De Marchis was born in Rome in 1669 and entered the Congregation of the Suore Convittrici Del Bambin Gesu’ in Rome, founded by Anna Moroni. She was a holy woman. During her lifetime she devoted herself in teaching catechism to the children preparing them for the first Holy Communion and to the liturgical activities. She had a special gift in taking care of the little children and she could feel if they were good or bad and if they had a bad Confession; in this case she let them go back to the Sacrament of Confession again. She was kind, simple, loving and real spiritual mother of their children, as well a holy sister in living her Religious life. In 1693 was sent to San Severino Marche together with another Sister, Laura Falischi, after the request of Fr.Giambattista Beni, to establish a branch of the same Congregation in that City with the approval of our Co-founder Fr.Cosimo Berlinzani. There she led an outstanding spiritual life and as, Superior, became a model of consecrated life and a caring moher of her daughters. She died on March 16, 1714; was not canonized, but reputed as a saint. She was placed in the chapel of our Convent for 5 days to be visited by the people; while some Sisters were changing her habit, they noticed a color red with the shape of a heart in her breast, and the doctor said it was not natural but supernatural event.
She was buried under the floor of our chapel in San Severino Marche(Italy), where she is until now, as we can see in her tombstone with this inscription” Hic jacet corpus functae Margaritae Teresiae De Marchis, Romanae, huius Congregationis Fundatricis-Vita functae cum sanctitatis fama.Die XVI Martii MDCCXIV, AET.AN. XLV” (Here is buried the body of the deceased Margherita Teresa De Marchis, born in Rome, Foundress of this Congregation .Her life worthy of veneration for her holy life. She died on March 16, 1714, at 45 years of age).
